Description

The Milford Beacon was a weekly newspaper serving the Milford, Delaware community and surrounding areas, including Lincoln, Harrington, and Houston. Established in 1994 by Karen and Mark C. Dwyer, it provided local news, community events, sports updates, and human-interest stories, fostering a strong connection between residents and their community. In 2020, following the merger of GateHouse Media and Gannett, the Milford Beacon became part of the Gannett network. Consequently, its content is now primarily integrated into Delaware Online, the digital platform of The News Journal. The original Milford Beacon website and social media channels are no longer actively maintained.

The Milford Beacon was always my go-to for local news, events, and real community stories. It captured the spirit of our town with thoughtful reporting, local sports coverage, and uplifting features that larger outlets often overlook. I appreciated the way it stayed connected to its readers and highlighted what mattered most to Milford residents. Even though its content now lives on through Delaware Online, the Beacon’s legacy of trusted local journalism is still deeply valued.
